Goats originated in the mountainous areas of Eastern Europe and West Asia (A-Z). The goats are from the Bovidae family which originated in Africa 19 million years ago (A-Z). From there they started to split into subfamilies of the antelope, cattle and goats (A-Z). |
How Long have people been using goats?
Goats were first domesticated, in 8,000 B.C., by humans (Facts About Goats). It is suspected that they were the first animal domesticated. They are and were used for milk, meat, manure and many other uses. They were herded and kept for all of these reasons.
